When it comes to getting your RV ready for the long, cold winter it involves more than just throwing a tarp over it. RV's need to be fully protected against a wide range of things from moisture, pest infestation, and frozen pipes. We here at Ray's Truck Service & RV know that you don't want to start next years camping season dealing with any problems so we have put together a quick checklist to help you make sure your RV is fully winterized and ready to go when spring and summer return!
- Plumbing: Treat with pink non-toxic anti-freeze. Get by-pass kit for water heater.
- Moisture Control: Place chemical absorbent inside to absorb the moisture.
- Suspension: Spray all rubber bushings with WD-40 to prevent dry rot. Have suspension professionally lubed at each service and just before winter.
- Tires: Cover or even remove tires to protect against sun damage. Fill to manufacturer specs on sidewalls. Never under or over inflate.
- Rodent Control: Stuff openings with aluminum or brass wool or fill with "Great Stuff".
- Insect Control: Sprinkle Ant Block all around your camper. Spray for spiders.
- Propane: Close, cover, or fill propane openings prevent bug infestations. Remove in spring before lighting systems.
- Clean: Clean out all food, spices, toothpaste, blankets, etc. to reduce rodent problems.
